Five minutes into the allergy testing. Eggs are 1 &2, Peanuts are 8!
I really hate this. When Bryce was almost a year we gave him scrambled eggs and he turned into a blotchy rash. From that I took him to the allergist to find out that he was allergic to wheat, milk, shellfish, soy, CHICKEN and really allergic to all nuts, peanuts and EGGS! We went for our followup this past Thursday and were excited to learn that he was no longer allergic to wheat, milk or shellfish! Bring on the shrimp! His eggs did increase, which sucks, but the doctor assured us that more food allergies will drop as time goes by and we hope that by the time he enters kindergarten that the epi pen will go in the trash.
There is a down side to this. When we started talking to the doctor he asked how Bryce was doing. We told him that the food situation was working but that his nose was running and his eczema was picking up again. The doctor tested him for everything. He told us it was a long shot and that children under 6 are hardly ever allergic to anything "environmental" and that it was just a precaution. Once again the McIntyres defied the usual and Bryce, at less than two, is allergic to pollen, trees, grass, ragweed, feather, dust, other crap, cats and is seriously allergic to dogs. Unlike food allergies these will only intensify with age. Sadly, these allergies, along with the eczema will take him down the road of asthma. We were given three scripts, but we are waiting to fill them. I am going to look at all other alternatives before we begin actual meds. I know that Eric and Guy and my Dad and brother all suffer from similar, if not exact, allergies, so this is all workable!
